This was a question I asked myself so many times when I got started with web development. First lets talk about being a professional. Becoming a professional in general means you understand mostly and get the idea of the basic knowledge that surrounds the subject or field of interest. Basically, becoming a professional takes time and good knowledge. Read, analyze and practise. Research on the field you are interested the most. Learn from other already established professional developers / designers. It takes a lot of will and courage, but if this is something you are really passionate about, becoming a professional comes by itself, you will realise that you became really comfortable with what you do, and you can start helping others and answering complex questions about fields you never dreamed of knowing before.
